All follicles are not active at the same time; therefore, shaving and waxing only remove the active follicles not the dormant.

Electrologists can only locate and treat active hair follicles. As a result, the same area must be treated several times so that newly active follicles can be targeted. Determining the exact number of treatments needed to permanently remove hair from a given area can only be estimated.
